On March 28, 2023, Kuaishou Technology was awarded a two-star rating in the Social Responsibility Pilot Program for Data Security and Personal Information Protection (數據安全和個人信息保護社會責任試點二星級評價) at the Seminar on Application of Network Security Technology(網絡安全技術應用專題研討會) organized by the Data Security Working Committee of CCIA (CCIA數據安全工作委員會). This recognition establishes Kuaishou as a prominent player in personal information protection and data security in China.

Yang Jianjun (楊建軍), the secretary of the Party Committee and vice president of China Electronics Standardization Institute (電子標準院) as well as the secretary-general of China Cybersecurity Industry Alliance, highlighted the needs for innovative governance models and approaches due to the evolving landscape of data security driven by the development of emerging technology applications in recent years. Experts from different fields have agreed with his views. Wu Jing (吳婧), Senior Director of Security of Kuaishou, shared the company’s experience and innovative exploration in data governance models. Since 2022, Kuaishou has strengthened its measures for personal information and data protection, and established a robust work system that prioritizes user rights protection and technical security capabilities based on the principles of “minimalism”, “consent”, “safety guarantee” and “balanced responsibility and accountability”. Kuaishou has implemented comprehensive product privacy protection throughout various stages, including needs assessment, development, and launch. The company actively pursues internal governance initiatives to ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and effective protection of user personal information.

At the seminar, He Yanzhe, the deputy director of Data Security Committee of CCIA (CCIA數據安全委員會), presented the progress made in 2022 and outlined the work plan for the upcoming year of the Data Security Committee. CCIA also announced the evaluation results of the Social Responsibility Pilot Program for Data Security and Personal Information Protection and awarded a two-star rating, the highest in China, to Beijing Kuaishou Technology Co., Ltd., Ant Group Co., Ltd., Tencent Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., Beijing Douyin Information Services Co., Ltd. and Beijing Baidu Netcom Technology Co., Ltd., positioning them as industry leaders in data security and personal information protection in China. 

In addition, special awards were presented to 15 enterprises and units as well as 12 experts at the seminar in recognition of their outstanding contributions in the field of data security in 2022. Beijing Kuaishou Technology Co., Ltd. was honored with the Outstanding Contribution Award and Kuaishou’s information security expert, Luo Hongwei(落紅衛), was recognized as an “advanced individual (先進個人)” in data security work.

After the conference, the information security representative of Kuaishou Technology expressed that the award serves as a validation and acknowledgement of Kuaishou’s achievements in data security and the protection of personal information. Moving forward, Kuaishou will continue to prioritize investments in data security and personal information protection, with its focus on enhancing system development and strengthening institutional frameworks to ensure the protection of consumer interests while fulfilling the corporate social responsibilities.
